Painful adult scoliosis with kyphosant evolution and sagittal anterior trunk imbalance treated with physical therapy techniques: three case reports
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Painful adult scoliosis presenting kyphotic evolution combined with an anterior imbalance of the trunk is one of the most difficult clinical conditions in rehabilitation. Clinical changes during rehabilitation treatment (physical therapy) can be measured by using surface topography, although postural changes can produce measurement fluctuations, and interpretations should be made cautiously. This type of patient presents with considerable stiffness of the spine, and their kyphotic deformity used to be irreducible.

Early Outcomes of Minimally Invasive Anterior Longitudinal Ligament Release for Correction of Sagittal Imbalance in Patients with Adult Spinal Deformity
The object of this study was to evaluate a novel surgical technique in the treatment of adult degenerative scoliosis and present our early experience with the minimally invasive lateral approach for anterior longitudinal ligament release to provide lumbar lordosis and examine its impact on sagittal balance. Methods. All patients with adult spinal deformity (ASD) treated with the minimally invas...

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the effect of Boston brace on trunk muscles length as well as lower limbs and trunk range of motion in patients with idiopathic scoliosis. Methods: Five patients with idiopathic scoliosis with C shape curve and mean (SD) age, height, and weight of respectively 12.61(1.16) years, 1.53(0.08) m, and 35.6(6.1) kg participated in this study. Spatiotemporal para...

Materials and methods Retrospective, including 47 patients with IS treated exclusively with exercises. Mean age 18.64 ± 5.78 years. Outpatient Intensive Rehabilitation was carried out, three hours a day, five days a week, 4 weeks. Surface topography (Formetric) was performed to measure trunk imbalance, surface rotation and lateral deviation before and after the treatment period. The obtained pr...
متن کاملA Correlational Study of Scoliosis and Trunk Balance in Adult Patients with Mandibular Deviation
Previous studies have confirmed that patients with mandibular deviation often have abnormal morphology of their cervical vertebrae. However, the relationship between mandibular deviation, scoliosis, and trunk balance has not been studied. Currently, mandibular deviation is usually treated as a single pathology, which leads to poor clinical efficiency. We investigated the relationship of spine c...
متن کاملOutcome of intensive outpatient rehabilitation and bracing in an adult patient with Scheuermann’s disease evaluated by radiologic imaging—a case report
BACKGROUND No studies examine the efficacy of intensive specific physical therapy (PT) exercises along with brace for the adult with Scheuermann's kyphosis (SK). The aim of this study was to examine the effects of intensive PT based on the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) and SpinoMed brace on a 76-year-old female with SK. CASE DESCRIPTION A 76-year-old female, diagnosed wi...
